Urda Hantverk – A Journey Through Time Since 2002

From Passion to Profession It all began in 2002 when our founder, Daniel, driven by a longing to escape the digital world and live in the moment, started attending medieval markets. There was an incredible joy in meeting people “for real,” but also a frustration. There was a lack of suppliers in Sweden offering historical clothing in the materials actually used back then – wool and linen. That is where the idea for what is today Urda Hantverk was born.

We are a small but proud Swedish family business, deeply rooted in our interest in history, and we stand by everything we make.

Our History & Base The journey has taken us via Blixterboda (2008) to Rockhammar, where we moved in 2013. Today, our warehouse in Rockhammar is our base of operations where we pack the car to head out to markets and events all around the Nordic region.

A True Family Business The business is operated by the company Urda AB (Org. no: 559454-8710), which is wholly owned by Daniel Sjöstrand Holding AB. For us, being a family business means short decision paths and a personal relationship with our products.

Meet Us at Markets – Our “Real” Shop Since we love personal meetings, the historical markets are our home turf.

• Medieval Week on Gotland: This is our annual highlight, where we have participated since 2006. Every year, we build a roughly 150 sqm medieval tent shop where you can touch, feel, and try on our entire range. (Please note that the webshop takes a break during these weeks).

Warehouse in Rockhammar (No Retail Store) In Rockhammar, we have our warehouse where the clothes are neatly folded on shelves. We have no physical store here for spontaneous visits. However, if you know exactly what you want, you are welcome to pick up your order here by special appointment.

Trusted by Film & Stage Our striving for authenticity has meant that over the years, we have had the privilege of supplying clothes to a multitude of productions and events. Perhaps you have seen our garments in the Arn movies, the TV show Barda, Big Brother, productions for the Church of Sweden, or in contexts involving the Varnagel viking project.

Companies, Municipalities & Organizations Do you represent a municipality, theater, museum, or association? We are accustomed to assisting organizations with larger sets of costumes. Get in touch with us, and we will guide you to the right solution.
